The Brazilian champions have practically assured themselves of the Argentine defender.

Sao Paulo have struggled a great deal this season, and will reinforce their backline with Argentine right back Adrian Gonzalez.

gonzalezGonzalez, 32, has been a key member of the San Lorenzo squad for the past five years, but he jumped at a loan move to the Brazilian heavyweights after problems over his contract.

Despite the fact that San Lorenzo boss Diego Simeone wanted to count on the player for the Argentine Apertura Championship, Gonzalez decided that it was in his best interests to move abroad.

Gonzalez is well known around South America for being a free-kick specialist. He has scored several goals from deadball situations.

Sao Paulo will be the first club Gonzalez will have played for from outside Argentina. Previously to San Lorenzo, he played for Banfield, Union de Santa Fe and El Porvenir.

Gonzalez won two Argentine championships during his time at El Ciclon, these coming in 2001 and 2007.
