Santiago Solari penned a deal with Mexican outfit Atlante, and the classy Argentine is excited about the opportunity to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup with them in Dubai in December.
“I’m delighted to make up part of this process of a club who have grown a great deal and that will play for important things, perhaps the most important tournament in their history, nothing less than the Club World Cup,” said Solari.
“This is important for any club, I’m here to collaborate with my experience and my hard work. Hopefully we will become world champions in December, to dream doesn’t cost you anything.”
The former Inter Milan, Real Madrid, River Plate and San Lorenzo midfielder is hoping to replicate the success of his family members, who found wide success in Mexican football.
He continued, “It is a great responsibility for me, not only for my career, but because many of my family members have done very well here, the last of these being my brother who scored lots of goals for Pumas, before it was my father and my uncle, who both did very well in different Mexican clubs, a country which I like very much.”
Finally, Solari claimed to be looking forward to competing in the Mexican league, because according to him it is “very competitive” and there is “lots of quality” on display.
